My mother just told me I was a good boy. She followed that up by saying I was a pretty old boy. That is fair. It's true. I am starting the climb to the top. They may call this middle age but I'm not going to double how hold I am so I was actually at middle age a long time ago,
On vacation, sleeping for a week in hotel rooms, in strange beds, driving over a thousand miles, I returned from vacation more tired then when we left.
And I returned to a tonne of chores. Tuesday I looked after grandson Silas. He wasn't too much trouble. We did man things. Got two yards of dirt loaded into the truck by a big digger, spread the dirt, planted grass, went to three hardware stores. He loved it.
I loved having him with me but the work itself tired me out. Two yards of topsoil is a lot of dirt to hand shovel off a truck, Then it had to be raked, then rolled, then raked again and rolled again. Repeat that about 5 more times until it was all level. Then it was plant the grass seed and cover it all with peat moss. Then water. A chore that started at 9:00 a.m. when young Silas came lasted until 8:30 at night. I was worn out. I am still tired.
All this was to repair the lawn, finally, that was dug up to fix the water line last October. As you can see, I don't always move fast but I do eventully move. Fixing the lawn was the preferred chore for that day. Somehow it seemed preferable to putting up new curtain rods.
We are all back on schedule now. Tess is back to work. Tomorrow my 'weekend' starts, such as it is, and I will be staying at my other home and looking forward to it.
Truthfully, I sleep better when I am with Tess in out bed but the back and forth between houses as I look after Tess' shit and look after my old folks wears me out by the end of the week and I look forward to Tess' shit change so I do not have to be running back and forth. I can stay put in one place.
Add to that that it is raining steadily, and thus indoor days, and Stephen King has a new book out and you can see why I am really looking forward to my weekend tomorrow.
